Is there a way to apply to be a Video game tester without having to pay for a stupid membership?

Abby asked:

I need to make some money to help pay for college and I love playing video games. Game testing would help a lot cause it’s an easy way to make some money fast, but I don’t have the money to pay for the membership fees that I’ve been finding on all of the sites for game testing. Does anyone know where you can sign up for free?

One way to do it if you are schoolish age is work experience, although most of the time it is unpaid. My friend did that when we were about 17, he had to take a week off college though, as you have to join a waiting list a lot of the time and take the week that you are given. My friend did it at Lionhead Studios in Guildford. From there you may be able to find some paid work, and start building a CV to work in the more prestigious companies.
